Personal Equipment Needs
The following is a list of items that you will need for outdoor rugby practices.

1. Cleats: A "rugby boot" or soccer cleat is acceptable. Cleats must not contain the single "toe" cleat or hard plastic blades (although rubber blades are legal). It is not wise to wear plain sneakers for practice. The fast pace as well as frequent stops and starts and changes of direction required in rugby can cause injury if you do not have sufficient traction. The risk of slipping and losing footing is great when not wearing cleats.

2. Shorts: Wear either rugby shorts (made of thick material) or gym shorts.

3. Jersey: Wearing a rugby jersey for practice will help you become comfortable with wearing one for matches, and will hold up better for binding and tackling. If you have one, wear it at all times!

4. Mouth Guard: You must purchase a mouth guard from an area sporting goods store. You will need to follow the directions on the back of the mouth guard package to conform the shape of the mouth guard to your teeth.

5. Fluids: Please remember to bring adequate fluids, in the form of water or a sports drink, such as Gatorade and PowerAde. You will be working your body hard for two hours, and you will need to replace fluids.

6. Climate Control: Remember to bring layers when it's cold outside. Please have rugby gear underneath for use when we do binding and lifting drills.
